2017 Kettle Moraine High School Guest Teaching Artist
Coached KMHS students through the first part of the Meisner Approach to Acting exercises. With nearly 100 students taking part in the four-week seminar, finding ways to allow all students to participate in these exercises was the key to making this a successful four weeks.
2016 Alliance for Wisconsin Theatre Education Conference
During this 60-minutes seminar, I introduced high school teachers and college professors to the basics and philosophies behind the Meisner Approach to Acting. Preparation included creating a document that would help these instructors to remember the key-points when teaching the Meisner Approach as well as how to introduce a two-year program in only an hour's time.
2015-2016 True Acting Institute: Meisner Approach to Acting Certification
Led by Master Teacher Larry Silverberg, this four-week Meisner intensive (two weeks per summer) was specifically for teaching artists who seek to deepen their own acting skills and in turn, bring the Meisner method of actor training to the classroom. With completing the intensive, I am now a certified Meisner Instructor.
2015 Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival, Guest Workshop Leader
Taught three "Voice for the Actor" workshops to a total of 50 students. The workshop introduced students to the teachings of Patsy Rodenberg. Students walked away with a 45 minute vocal work-out which focused on getting grounded and centered, getting the voice on support, releasing the voice, cutting and shaping words, and connecting the voice to the entire instrument called "the body."
2014 Applied Theatre Center
Led by Dale Savidge, this conference focused on using theatre as a means of affecting society in a positive way. Most of what Mr. Savidge taught is based on the practices of Augusto Boal and can be used in any acting course, most especially introductory courses. I have adopted many of the exercies from this conference to my own classroom, especially in the early stages of "Principals of Acting."
2013 Broadway Teachers Workshop
For three days, I was immersed in the Broadway experience, having participated in several workshops led by working Broadway talent. Such workshops included directing, improv, stage make-up, stage management, story-thru-song, and basic choreography.
